What Is An Internal Medicine Physician?

An internal medicine physician, sometimes called an internist, is a primary care physician who provides long-term, comprehensive care for the entire family. They are trained to help you manage common and complex illnesses and diseases affecting all parts of the body including the heart, blood, kidneys, joints, and digestive, respiratory and vascular systems. While internists treat disease, they also specialize in disease prevention and general wellness. Because internists have extensive knowledge and skill in diagnosis and treatment, these physicians monitor overall health and make certain their patients receive the proper screenings for disease prevention.

We incorporate a team-based approach to provide and coordinate comprehensive health care services to you and your family. Our internal medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, sonographers, certified educators and the rest of our staff will help you to feel comfortable during your visit. We work with you to coordinate all your health needs, from helping you maintain a vigorous lifestyle to linking you with specialists when necessary.
