Men's Health Services

What is Men's Health?

Men’s health goes beyond physical well-being. It tackles a range of issues specific to men, like reproductive and sexual health, or those affecting them differently, like mental health and heart disease. Diet, exercise, stress management, and access to healthcare are all crucial for men’s overall well-being.

What are some diseases or conditions that commonly affect men?

Men’s health encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, respiratory illnesses, mental health concerns, various cancers, sexual health issues, and other health problems.

The Urology providers at Babylon Medical Practice can diagnose and treat

Men’s health used to be defined by physical problems alone. Now, we understand it’s also impacted by social factors like work, education, and social care. This broader view means addressing men’s health requires action at both individual and policy levels.

Which men's health services are available?

The team at Babylon Medical Practice offers the following services:

Male reproductive treatments

Male reproductive issues like erectile dysfunction have a few different options for treatment. External shockwave treatment works well for erectile dysfunction, and quick, in-office procedures like vasectomy can help with family planning.

TESTOSTERONE tHERAPY

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and androgen in males. In humans, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as testicles and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.

Restoring testosterone levels to within the normal range by using testosterone replacement therapy can improve many of the effects of hypogonadism. Most importantly, these include beneficial effects on mood, energy levels and patients’ sense of well-being, sexual function, lean body mass and muscle strength, erythropoiesis and bone mineral density (BMD), cognition and some benefits on cardiovascular risk factors.  Testosterone is well known to help in libido, bone density, muscle mass, body composition, mood, erythropoiesis, and cognition. All these benefits made testosterone replacement therapy in the United States increase substantially over the past several years, with an increase of more than 500% in prescription sales of testosterone products since 1993.
